Am I the only one who wants to talk about everything that went wrong with their quilt? Just me?
First off, let me say this pattern, Hexie Framed by Emily Dennis, is great. And the fabric, Insignia by Alison Glass is also obviously amazing. This quilt top hung on the wall of my bedroom for a while, waiting for me to decide how to quilt it. I loved how the quilt turned out, but couldn’t figure out what to do.
Because we are moving at the end of this month, it had to either be quilted or put into a box to be quilted at who knows when in the future. I finally decided to do something I never do, stitch in the ditch down the middle of the hexagons and then evenly spaced in the white. Now I remember why I don’t ever stitch in the ditch… Especially down the middle of solid colored hexagons. Every tiny deviation from perfectly straight becomes very apparent. I have been assured by a friend or two that it looks fine, which is probably true, but to me it felt like I had just ruined a beautiful quilt.
But alas, it doesn’t matter, a quilt is a quilt, there will always be another, so I declared it good enough, put a binding on it, and called it a day.
Did I put anyone to sleep?
